The Return of Fave 5 Friday

Hi lovelies! I hope that you all had a great week and now it’s finally the weekend! I thought that in honor of putting a new post up on a Friday (it hasn’t happened in quite a while) I’d bring back Fave Five Friday!

1. 2012 National Figure Skating Championships!

(That’s last year’s gold-medalist, Alissa Czisny!)

Tomorrow my mom and I are going to the National Figure Skating Championships which just so happen to be held in San Jose this year! We got tickets about a year ago and have been looking forward to it ever since! We get to see the Championship Free Dance, Ladies Free Skate, Pair’s Free Skate, Men’s Free Skate and watch it all conclude with something called the Skating Spectacular! It’s going to be so much fun and since I have been so busy lately, I’m so excited to spend this time with my mom (and Daddy Jeff who’s coming for the last event) and catch up.

2. Pinterest!

Ok, so I’m a little late to the game, but I’ve finally jointed Pinterest! I never really understood the attraction before I joined but now I want to make boards of everything and pin all day long! I feel like it is also a blogger heaven as I keep discovering great quotes, fashion, recipes and workouts!

3. Blender Bottle!

I have the purple one 🙂

I’ve had my blender bottle for a few months now, but forgot about it in the back of my cabinet. The other night when searching for something edible (no, I still haven’t gone grocery shopping) I found it and thought I’d give it a try. Since I don’t have a blender at work (nor would my coworkers appreciate the noise pollution) I figured a blended faux-smoothie would be a great lunch option and the perfect way to use my new tool. My favorite combo so far is: vanilla protein powder, cold coffee, vanilla almond milk and reduced fat, unsweetened coconut. It tastes like a non-icy, healthy frappuccino and is pretty amazing!

4. Dine About Town in SF!

We sat at the long red table!

On Wednesday night I went with some sorority sisters to celebrate San Francisco’s Dine About Town– a time when pricier restaurants create an affordable, multi-course, prix fix menu. Given that we had a large group, Cupola Pizzeria created a feast for us that consisted of an antipasta, salad, cheese course, prawns, 3 different pastas, 3 different pizzas and a sampling of all dessert. Oh yes, and multiple wine carafes. Needless to say, I was a bad blogger and didn’t take any pictures but let’s face it, I was too busy chatting and eating!

5. The Daily Puppy!

My dream dog!

The other day I discovered a new-to-me website, The Daily Puppy. To be honest, I don’t understand the point of the website, other than to highlight adorable puppies. Get ready for your new time suck as they feature a different breed every day and each one is more adorable than the last.

Fave 5 Friday: Weekend Edition

Hi lovelies! Happy, happy Friday! After a very rainy Thursday (and commutes in SF rain are no joke) I am keeping my fingers crossed for a sunny weekend. Instead of doing my usual Take 5 Friday style, I’m so excited about this weekend that I’ve decided to devote the whole post to it!

1. The Ides of March comes out!

I have been excited for this movie for a while and the reason is pretty self-explainatory: George Clooney + Ryan Gosling. Need I say more?

2. Fleet Week!

Ask anyone about living in San Francisco and they will undoubtably tell you about their favorite weekend events with Fleet Week being a definite favorite! This will be my first time in the city for fleet week and I’m so excited. I watched the ships start sailing in on Wednesday and heard the Blue Angels flying over my work all day Thursday. But this weekend, I can finally enjoy them at a rooftop party with a mimosa in hand… does it get any better than that?

3. My Best Friend is visiting!

At the Tiffany Ice Skating Rink in London

If you’ve been around GGG for a while, then you know how important I think that girls nights are for our health. Well this weekend, my health will be perfect because my best friend B is visiting! The last time I saw her was in LA for her birthday in June, so I am very excited to be reunited with her this weekend!! We have so much to catch up on and g-chat just isn’t cutting it, so I can’t wait to spend some quality time together!

4. Going to High Tea!

I have been going to high tea with my mom since before I can remember and certainly before I actually ate any cucumber sandwiches or drank tea. It’s a tradition that I love to have with my mom and something that B and I have began as well. We went to high tea in London, had a very avant guard tea in LA and now will be going to one of my favorite tea places in San Francisco that is pictured above! Review to follow 🙂

5. Big Eat 7×7 List!

If you live in SF, you probably know about the 7×7 list of 100 things to eat before you die. This list has some of the most amazing dishes from so many places in the city and I am always excited when I can cross one off the list. This weekend, I hope to take B to breakfast at a place we can both cross a breakfast item off the list- the morning bun from Tartine Bakery. This morning bun is a legend and I am so excited to finally see what everyone is talking about this weekend!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Fave 5 Friday

Hi lovelies! Happy, happy Friday! This has been a really busy week work wise so I’m definitely ready for a restful, fun weekend! I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and take some time to relax and enjoy the company of your friends and family! And now it’s time for 5 things I’m loving this week!

1. Summer in San Francisco!

Even an iphone was able to capture this beauty!

The well known quote by Marc Twain goes, “the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” Well, it’s true. San Francisco summers are notoriously cold which was a bit of a shock for me coming from LA and Sacramento. I used to walk around sans jacket in the city over the summer and soon realized that a light jacket is essential for San Francisco living. But now our time has finally come and we are experiencing some beautiful weather here! So while everyone in the blog world is talking about Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I’m finally ready for some iced coffee!

2. New Lady Antebellum cd!

I’ve mentioned before, my tendency to listen to the same music over and over again, which has happened to me again recently. But when I scrolled through iTunes, I found that Lady Antebellum had come out with a new cd! I love the sound of Lady A, but do not love the song that they are most known for- Need You Now, after it got way, way overplayed. Their new cd on the other hand is great and I’m excited to have some new music!

3. Fall TV is Back!

This year, I did get sucked into the Bachelor Pad, but let’s face it, usually summer shows are just not that good. But I love fall tv premier season when all my favorite shows come back! I’ll admit that I’m really excited about the return of Glee, Modern Family, The Good Wife and my CW guilty pleasures, Gossip Girl and 90210. I may also have gotten hooked on Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family. Don’t judge me, it’s addicting.

4. Stacked Heel Boots!

Though I’m loving summer, I can’t help but be excited about fall fashion! One of my fall must haves is a perfect pair of boots. While I can usually be found in a 5 inch stilleto, I am finding myself very attracted to thicker, stacked heels! I think if I can find the right pair, they will be perfect with pants, skirts and sweater dresses! I’m officially on the hunt now so when Piperlime sent out this email today, it was kismet!

5. Mother’s Frosted Circus Animal Cookies!

These were always my mom’s favorite cookies growing up and since they were appropriately girly, they quickly became mine. Last weekend they were brought back into my life when my Grandma put out a whole spread of these cookies and my favorite candy (peanut m&ms) for something to ‘munch’ on when I visited her house! Needless to say, she sent them home with me and I have been enjoying my favorite little cookies and feel like a kid again!

Fave 5 Friday

Hi lovelies! Woohoo, it’s Friday! Although this has been a short week, it’s been a busy one, so I’m happy it’s officially the weekend. Today it’s time for another Fave 5 Friday post! If you are missing your dose of Take 5, head over to Nourish and Flourish to read about the amazing WeFeedBack program. And now for 5 things I’m loving this week…

1. My First Giants Game!

Tonight I am going to my very first Giants game! I’ve actually never been to a major league baseball game before so this will be a new experience for me. In the past, I’ve always looked at sporting events as an opportunity to socialize but now… well, let’s face it, that’s exactly what I’m looking at tonight as too. I am however, excited to take part in some SF pride, cheer on our home team and hopefully go out after to celebrate a victory!

2. Starbucks Iced Passion Tea!

My mom got me started on the iced passion tea from Starbucks and I can officially say that I am hooked! I know these have been around for a while but I’m just now jumping on board because I’ve never been much a tea drinker. These however, were a game changer and remind me of how when I first tried tart yogurt I didn’t like it but the more I had it, the more I grew addicted to it! Same goes for the tea! My summer go-to drink is a venti iced unsweetened passion tea with 2 Splenda for the perfect sweet/tart combination!

3. Revlon Top Speed Nail Polish!

I know this looks awkward... it was my attempt at making the polishes look pretty?

I tend to paint my nails right after I finish blogging at around 12 am., that way, I can ensure that my nails will not be chipped by the next day. But sometimes, I fall asleep before they are completely dry and the dreaded sheet marks on the nails occurs. After a few too many times of waking up with smudged nails, I decided to branch out my polish choices and fell in love with Revlon Top speed polishes. Not only are they cheaper than most other brands (under $4) but they have fun colors and most importantly, dry quickly. I love the Sheer Cotton, a white-ish pink and Jaded, a seafoam green.

4. Fashion’s Night Out!

Last night I attended San Francisco’s Fashion’s Night Out with a few new girlfriends! This event was started by Vogue a few years back to boost the economy by getting people back to the stores to go shopping! It has now transformed into a fashion filled night with stores offering amazing perks and promotions. The girls and I hit a bunch of stores, sipped some free champagne and even got the chance to meet some fashion bloggers like Blair from Atlantic Pacific and Anh from 9 to 5 Chic. Both women were not only gorgeous and stylish but they were so sweet and fun to talk to. It was such a wonderful night and I had so much fun with my new friends!

5. Bloggers Enjoying Rest Days!

This week alone, I talked about needing rest days and so did Clare and Brittany!  I think that sometimes our community gets a bad wrap when it comes to appropriate exercise levels so I think it’s wonderful to see so many bloggers speaking out to validate that rest days are good for your and important. Sometimes, no matter what you want to do, listening to your body is what you need to do and I’m proud of us all for making such good decisions!
