Fave 5 Friday

Hi lovelies! I hope that you have had a wonderful week! It is officially my favorite day… FRIDAY! I love Fridays because they feel like the day of the week with the most possibilities, I get excited thinking that I have the whole weekend in front of me! Since it’s been a few weeks since I did a Fave 5 Friday, let’s get to it!

1. New York, New York!

On Monday I am going on a trip to New York! I am so excited and this trip is going to be amazing!! New York is one of those incredible cities that just makes you feel so alive when you are in the midst of so much going on around you. From the beautiful city itself, to the food and the shopping… what’s not to love? (And speaking of shopping, I am so excited to visit Topshop, my absolute favorite store when I was in London!)

2. Friends and Family Sales!

I’m definitely a girl that loves a good sale and this week I wanted to share them with you! In case you aren’t on their email lists, from now until August 7, Ann Taylor, LOFT and Gap are all having their Friends and Family Sales! With 30% full-price and sale items, this is a great time to stock up on fall essentials or summer clothes! The latter are especially perfect for SF since we’ll soon be able to wear summery clothes! If you need the invite send me an email (glitz glam granola at gmail dot com) and the online code for LOFT and Ann Taylor is “FRIENDS” and the Gap code is ” 30OFF”

3. The Help!

I’m currently reading The Help and am absolutely in love with this book! I had been a little slow to pick it up but found that whenever this book was brought up, people couldn’t stop raving about it! Now I’m totally into it and can hardly put it down! The story draws you in and Stockett creates characters that you find yourself invested in. I’ll put up a review when I finish it and then we’ll have to do a comparison of who liked the movie compared to the book!

4. New Hair!

Please excuse the awkward iphone photo!

This week I went in to my amazing hairstylist, armed with pictures of Kate Middleton in hand and told her to transform me! I’m still no Kate, but we do now have similar hair! I wanted a richer color and more body and that’s exactly what she gave me! I’m really happy with it and just hoping that I can come close to this look when I do it myself!

5. Dark Chocolate Macadamia Nuts!

When my parents came back from Hawaii they brought me a box of Dark Chocolate Macadamia nuts. I already knew that I loved dark chocolate and nuts, but these are out of this world. I have been limiting myself to one a day and am devastated that I only have two left. If you ever see them, do yourself a favor and buy them! You won’t regret it!

-Do you have any must-see, must-do, must-eat, must-shop NYC suggestions for me??

-Will you go shopping this weekend? Any items you’ve got your eye on?

-Who’s your hair inspiration?

  1. Such a fun post full of awesome faves! Your hair looks gorgeous — I can definitely tell that the Duchess is your inspiration . . . or maybe YOU are HER inspiration? 🙂 I really want my hair to get longer, but it’s taking a while . . .

Also, I LOVED The Help — such a great read! I’m reading a good book right now, Winter Garden, but it’s kind of paling in comparison to The Help. Very excited about the movie! 🙂 Happy weekend and have fun in NY!

  2. LOVE the hair! I’m totally seeing a Kate/Blair Waldorf hybrid happening!

I really want to read The Help! I am LOVING Brooklyn Decker’s choppy bob lately – I have a haircut appt on Tuesday and I think I might just take some length off!

Definitely wander around the West Village in NYC – it’s so cute (reminds me a lot of SF) with tons of adorable shops and restaurants everywhere.

http://jeffreysgrocery.com/ is awesome for apps/wine before dinner or a night out! SO cute inside!

  3. Look at that body in your hair! It’s beautiful!!! 🙂 My hair does it’s own thing, I am always jealous of others hair but try to embrace my own…. The grass is always greener on the other side, right?!
Eat PIZZA in NY, and whatever else your heart desires!

  4. GORGEOUS new ‘do, girlie!! I wish I was a brunette so I could channel Kate Middleton! You pull it off quite nicely. 🙂

The Help is one of my favorite books of all time! The characters seem so real and personable, which I attribute to the conversationalist tone. And I love the humor! Especially when Aibileen is narrating. 🙂

Chocolate-covered macadamia nuts are to-die-for delicious! I got my fix while I was in Maui last month! I just wish they were cheaper here. But then I guess they wouldn’t be a treat. 🙂
