Hi lovelies! I hope that you all are having a wonderful week so far. It’s finally warming up in San Francisco which is a nice change. I couldn’t be more ready for wedges and sandals and flirty dresses and skirts. I’ve been trying to “shop my closet” but of course I ultimately am also craving new things. But I’ll have to do a separate post on that! Today let’s talk about the lbd- or little black dress. It’s classic and timeless and something everyone should have at least one of in your closet. As Karl Lagerfeld said “One is never overdressed or underdressed with a little black dress.” It truly is a fashion staple and works for every occasion I think it’s important to actually have a few little black dresses in your closet- something you can grab and you know it will work.
The dress below is one such dress. I’ve had it for years but despite it’s age, it still works. It’s a great thick material that hangs just right, is fun and flirty while still being understated and demure which is why I knew it would be perfect for my Grandma’s 88th birthday celebration that you saw a sneak peek of earlier. To accent my dress I kept my accessories and shoes simple and went for a dark lip and a bright nail for a little pop.

Hi lovelies! Happy Wednesday! I hope that your week is going well and that the lucky few of you who are on spring break right now are enjoying it to the fullest! Although I’ve been acting like spring is in the air, it’s actually been quite cold in SF the past few days and now I’ve found myself back in tights and boots…ugh. But hopefully this is the last of it because I have too many pastels and dresses just waiting to be worn! For my What to Wear Wednesday posts I try and make them look more fashion-blogger by doing little photo shoots so the picture looks nice. But let’s face it, I’m not a full time blogger so many days outfit posts just don’t happen. When that’s the case, I sometimes have a slightly embarrassing habit of taking pictures in the mirror. Sometimes I’ll send them to friends to show them what I’m wearing to an event or on a date and sometimes, I have them just for me. They are a great way to see how an outfit photographs and for me to remember what I’m wearing. So I thought it would be fun today to show you some of the outfits you haven’t seen before that I’ve been wearing! This is also proof that I don’t always have my hair down and straight!

Hi lovelies! I hope that you are all having a great week so far. Here in San Francisco we’re having our typical summer, or as Mark Twain put it “the coldest winter I’ve ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” Rather than the below outfit that I was wearing a few weeks ago, I’ve been in tights and boots… in July. There is something so very wrong with that! Hopefully you are enjoying some warmer weather in your neck of the woods.
As a busy twenty-something in San Francisco, I feel like there is always something to do after work. Happy hours, fun events in the city, dates, get togethers with girlfriends. A lot of times these happen right after I get off work, so I like to have an outfit that transitions from day to night, where I can feel as confident walking into the office as I am into a trendy restaurant. This little black dress fit the bill the other day and allowed me to seamlessly move from both environments.
Dress: BCBG Generation, Belt: Nordstrom (Old), Bangles: A few from everywhere (Old), Shoes: G by Guess
I work in a creative environment so I actually was able to wear this to work, but for those of you who might work in more conservative offices, this outfit will still work too. For the office, switch the belt to a black skinny belt and pair it with black heels or flats to keep it a little more demure. Then when it’s time to go out you can slip on some flashier accessories or add a pop of color, apply an extra coat of mascara and a bold lipstick or gloss and you are good to go!
