The Fastest Race in the World: Indy 500

Hi lovelies! I hope that you all had a great weekend and for those lucky folks on summer vacation, are enjoying your time off! This weekend was a relaxing one and I spent time with my Mom and Grandma, and went to see the best movie on Friday night. Although I love my chick flicks, I also absolutely love foreign films and was excited to see the French film, The Intouchables. Based on a true story, the film chronicles a wealthy quadriplegic man who hires a man from the streets to be his caretaker. You’ll have to see the film to truly understand how captivating and powerful it is, but I thought the movie tagline was especially poignant “Sometimes you have to reach into someone else’s world to find what’s missing in your own.” I 100% recommend this movie!

I realized this weekend as I was relaxing, that I never told you about my very busy weekend when I went to the Indy 500! It was an even more amazing experience than I ever could have expected. Rather than write you a novel about it, I think I’ll show you some pictures (and captions) instead.

Downtown Indianapolis– there was a great chocolate shop around the corner from this beautiful monument!

My favorite driver, Marco Andretti who lead the most laps in the Indy 500 the next day, but sadly crashed in the final laps.

The Target dog, Bullseye! Target sponsors Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon, the top 2 finishers in the Indy 500.

In an actual INDY car!

Excited for Race Day! Outfit details: Top: LOFT, Shorts: LOFT, Flip Flops: Rainbow

The racing fam with our special-access passes

We were on the edge of our seats for almost all 500 laps– this really is the most exciting race!

The pictures can’t possibly convey the amazing experience it was going to the Indy 500 with my parents. We had an absolutely fantastic time and memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Now I’m hoping to attend the Sonoma Grand Prix to see all my favorite drivers race again!

Questions:

-Do you like foreign films? What’s your favorite movie genre?

-What type of sporting events do you like to attend? Do you favorite teams/players/drivers?

  1. The Indy 500 looks like such a cool experience! I’ve never seen car races, but I do love horse races! I also love tennis matches (I’d LOVE to go to Wimbledon some day) and football (but football more for socializing and less for the actual sport — shhh don’t tell my dad!)

I heard about Intouchables and after your review, I can’t wait to see it! One of my favorite movies is Life is Beautiful from the late 90s!

  2. Ooh, I’ve been waiting for this recap! It looks like it was such a fabulous weekend; I’m so happy you were able to enjoy Indy with your family! Love the race day outfit too–super cute aqua/teal top! Loft is one of my favorite stores, and that fact that it’s just one block from my house means I have to practice serious self-restraint every single day. ;)

I LOVE foreign films, and when given a choice, almost always choose them over domestic films! Like Kristen, Life is Beautiful is one of my all time favorites, but I also adore Amelie and Chocolat. The Intouchables sounds fantastic; I’m going to check to see if it’s playing in a theater close by!

I grew up going to every Cal football and basketball game, so I’m a HUGE fan (as is everyone else in my family–both sides!). I tell everyone that I bleed blue and gold, and my license plates are personalized to say “Oski”–Cal’s mascot. Yep, die-hard fan here! ;)

Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far, Emily! Hugs! xoxo

  3. Are you into indy and nascar Emily? I know NOTHING about them but I do like cars….. haha. My favorite sporting events are Ice Hockey (SHARKS!) and Basketball. I want to go to a 49ers game this season to see what live football is all about!
